We are a relaxed pub suited to all sorts of leisure and business occasions.

We would love to cook for you, whether you require a table for two because you can't be bothered to cook at home or if you just wish to chat and enjoy life.

Should you wish to arrange a special occasion such as a birthday celebration or a wedding for up to 60 people, we would love to help you.

We don't charge extra because we don't use table cloths or pretend to be something we're not. Our menus are straight forward and honest. We use the best, freshest and whenever possible, locally sourced produce.

And remember, you don't have to dress up if you don't want to.

Good food

Our team has worked hard to earn our reputation for serving good quality, home cooked food at pub prices.

We have designed our menus combining traditional pub favourites as well as something a little different.

We are proud to be a Derbyshire pub, particularly one in the beautiful village of Ticknall and we are lucky to have some of the finest produce in the country on our doorstep.

Child friendly

Children are welcome and we have a children's menu because we think they should have the opportunity to eat proper food.

Our Chef is happy to make smaller portions or simplified versions of anything on our menu. We love to see babies and children of all sizes at the table with their parents and families.

We are not a ‘high energy’ kids pub and children will need to be supervised by an adult at all times inside the pub and outside on the garden.

Our drinks

We love our drinks as much as we love our food.

Our range of draught cask ales and lagers is unrivalled in the area with 4 perfectly conditioned real ales on tap, with up to 150 different guest ales offered each year. These ales are also available direct from the barrel in our ground floor, temperature controlled cellar.

We know our wine is great because it is blind tasted to ensure quality. You can choose not to buy a whole bottle because all our wines are available by the glass ...yes, every wine we sell is available by the glass.

We do everything we can to source our products locally and seasonally whilst keeping our carbon footprint and food miles to a minimum.

As an individual and privately owned pub, we understand the importance of delivering outstanding service and are not subject to the corporate pressures of a large pub chain.
